The consortium led by Flomics Biotech, in which the Biobank of the Andalusian Public Health System (SSPA) and Leitat Technological Center participate, held its second annual coordination meeting at the Parc de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (PRBB) on the 9 of November. The main objective was to analyse the state of execution of the research project they are carrying out collaboratively, which aims to develop and implement a diagnostic solution based on the detection of RNA in blood for the early detection of up to five types of cancer (lung, colon, breast, prostate and pancreas).

At this meeting, the consortium members fine-tuned the workflow for the shipment of 600 samples in January 2024 from the SSPA Biobank to Flomics. A total of 1,100 patient samples will be analysed in LiquiDx. In this sense, the Centro Tecnológico Leitat is working on the protocol to process the corresponding samples and then be able to send them for sequencing.

It is important to point out that this line of work forms part of the LiquiDx project, associated with the action with action file number CPP2021-008897, which is financed by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union “NextGenerationEU/PRTR”, through the 2021 call for public-private collaboration projects of the Agencia Estatal de Investigación.
